As a primary care physician, Dr. Michalak treats a wide variety of conditions in both children and adults. His office is equipped to administer many common tests and procedures, including blood work and respiratory function test. Whenever necessary, to make sure his patients get the very best care, he’ll also refer patients to a close network of trusted specialists for auxiliary care.
CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT
Dr. Michalak believes that the best way to help patients deal with chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension is to get to know them very well so that he can design and monitor an individualized treatment plan. He says, “I don’t have a cookie cutter approach to any disease. I look at the patient as a person. I see myself as not as treating a disease, but treating a person who has the disease.” Dr. Michalak is board-certified in family medicine and is uniquely qualified to take care of patients with chronic diseases - especially when those diseases affect their sleep.

Dr. Michalak is well-known in the The Woodlands area for diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. The most common disorder that Dr. Michalak sees is obstructive sleep apnea, which can lead to severe problems for patients including high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and immune system dysfunctions. Depending on the type and severity of their symptoms, patients may be able to do a sleep apnea screening at home. Other sleep disorders that Dr. Michalak treats include: Insomnia, parasomnias (e.g. sleepwalking), nightmares, REM behavior disorder, restless leg syndrome, and narcolepsy.
